About CP Kelco
Unlocking Nature-Powered Success®
We’re a company of nature-based ingredient enthusiasts, strong collaborators, and big thinkers. Quality and consistency are at the core of our business. Some may view that as a tall order, but it’s a standard we have kept for approximately 90 years.
But our interests don’t stop at ingredients. We are devoted to customer service and community relationships. We are proud to be operating as a partner to the Okmulgee community for nearly 50 years.
CP Kelco takes community concerns seriously and regrets any inconvenience that operating the Okmulgee plant has caused. We are working diligently to address your concerns, including assessing ways to mitigate sound levels during operation and partnering with an acoustic engineering firm to implement a viable long-term solution. We thank our neighbors for their patience.
Please refer to the “Plant Updates” section for updates regarding the mitigation progress. Even if you don’t see a recent update, please know we are working hard to resolve the concerns and will endeavor to update you on actions that are significant.
Plant Updates
CP Kelco continues to make progress as we work to address the issues within the Okmulgee oxygen plant. We recently installed a new muffler that will address one source of elevated noise caused by a muffler equipment failure. The muffler is currently successfully mitigating sound as planned, but additional testing is underway. Recent severe winds have impacted the temporary acoustic barrier surrounding a separate source of noise within the oxygen plant. Reevaluation of that barrier is underway to ensure personnel safety and sound dampening effectiveness.
Normal daytime facility operations have resumed, but overnight operations of the other source of noise will remain paused until noise mitigation efforts are complete.
We are continuing to work toward a permanent solution, including evaluating an additional muffler on a separate source of noise and evaluating plans to construct a sound dampening wall. Engineering a permanent, effective solution is an ongoing process, which takes time to ensure we are properly leveraging what we have learned from noise mitigation efforts to date. Earlier noise mitigation efforts, including replacing the muffler, have shown successful noise reduction.
We thank the City of Okmulgee Officials, the Okmulgee community and local leadership for their continued patience as we expedite this phased noise reduction effort.
